"Do you know how? We aren't going to send oil to the United States. Take note, Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger."Chavez has repeatedly threatened to cut off oil shipments to the United States, which is Venezuela's No. 1 client, if Washington tries to oust him. Chavez's warnings on Sunday appeared to extend that threat to attempts by oil companies to challenge his government's nationalization drive through lawsuits."I speak to the U.S. empire, because that's the master: continue and you will see that we won't sent one drop of oil to the empire of the United States," Chavez said Sunday."The outlaws of Exxon Mobil will never again rob us," Chavez said, accusing the Irving, Texas-based oil company of acting in concert with Washington.Exxon Mobil spokeswoman Margaret Ross said the company had no comment. A U.S. Embassy spokeswoman in Caracas did not return a call.Venezuela accounted for about 12 percent of U.S. crude oil imports in November, the latest figures available from the U.S. Energy Department. And then when we lead by example the rest of the world will do the same.flagreany1672 months agoChaves is a symbol for Latin Americans who have suffered US violations of their national sovereignty for decades; violations which have been accelerated by Bush's paranoia of Latin Presidents who want to raise the standard of living of their nations' poor. In Bush's robotic mind, these moderate leaders are "communists:"Morales in Bolivia: Carrera in Ecuador, Chavez, and Luna de Silva. Have you been in Venezuela, Bolivia, or Ecuador's rural regions and seen the results of bringing basic health care and dental procedures and eyeglasses to the poor? I have. I lived in South America for many years. My wife is Chilean. For the first time in decades, the riches from the sale of natural resources are being utilized to benefit the folks for whom routine health care and education has been non-existent. Why are such efforts regarded by knee-jerk politicians as "communist" subterfuge? Have you lived in a Latin country? Do you speak Spanish? Have you witnessed, even more, lived with, the grinding poverty and illiteracy? Why does the US, a "Christian" nation, object to a tiny third world country's budget which includes provisions to try to assist the poor? Worse, our government, through AID, is funding, once again, opposition groups to the democratically elected administrations in Bolivia, Ecuador, Veneuela and Brazil. The supposed independent US AID has clandestinely provided US $4.5 million to four opposition governors of eastern Bolivian provinces, where much of the natural gas reserves and oil are located. US funds are given for an ultimate purpose: to secure majority control for US oil and gas companies over Bolivian resources. This will not happen under the presidency of Evo Morales, who has claimed that Bolivian resources are just that: Bolivian. The era of foreign exploitation of Bolivian assets has ended. Bush, as a corporate-elected official rages at this challenge to US corporate domination. Bush's problem with Presidents Morales, Carrera, Chaves and Luna de Silva is that they declare independence from traditional US hedgemony and repeated violations of their national sovereignty, and can now afford to do so. skipatrolflagskipatrol2 months agoskipatrol, Hugo Chavez comes here to the United States and calls our President the devil. He nationalized the oil companies and unsuccessfully attempted to change his countryвЂ™s constitution to legally become a dictator. It is typical for leaders of failed governmental systems to blame the United States for their own problems. Communism is nothing more than a military dictatorship. There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator. The reason that those countries are poor is because the government is corrupt. You just want to blame President Bush for the lack of effective leadership in Latin America. By the way if you want to blame anyone besides the countries themselves, why are you leaving Europe out? Chavez is an imbecile. Mexico is the richest Spanish speaking country. Why are the people poor? It has absolutely nothing to do with President Bush and everything to do with the corruption within its own government. Furthermore thank God that Teddy Roosevelt had enough vision to create Panama and build the Panama Canal. I know that the CAFTA will help these poor Latin countries develop economically. You can sit there and blame the United States for the worldвЂ™s problems and have that attitude all you want. It is your right. I know for a fact that the world is a better place because of the United States of America. The best thing that these countries can do for the USA, themselves, the rest of the world is to prosper and develop peacefully.The leaders you mention should blaming Christains and the United States for there own failures.
